Counselling for Anxiety & Depression in Sudbury & Online Across Ontario

When anxiety or depression takes hold, even simple tasks can feel heavy. You might find yourself lying awake at night with a racing mind, or struggling to find the energy to get through the day. These feelings can be isolating, but you don’t have to go through them alone.

At Social Team Work, we offer counselling for anxiety and depression in Sudbury and online throughout Ontario that’s designed to meet you where you are. Together, we’ll create space for your feelings, explore what’s been weighing you down, and discover practical ways to find relief.

What Anxiety Counselling Can Look Like

Counselling for depression and anxiety is about supporting you in your journey. We’ll sit together in the discomfort, talk through your experiences, and gently notice the patterns that keep you stuck. Along the way, you’ll begin to:

  • Understand the roots of your worry or low mood

  • Find ways to calm your mind and body when emotions feel overwhelming

  • Practice healthier routines that bring steadiness to your days

  • Reconnect with parts of yourself that have felt out of reach

Each step is guided by your pace, your needs, and your hopes for the future.

How Anxiety & Depression Counselling Can Help

Many people describe therapy as a place where they finally feel seen and supported. Over time, counselling for anxiety and depression can help you ease symptoms, shift how you relate to your thoughts, and grow more confident in navigating life’s challenges. Most importantly, it can help you feel less alone. Finding a therapist who specializes in anxiety or depression and offers the type of therapy best suited for your needs is a great place to start.

Types of Therapy For Anxiety & Depression

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to healing. The type of therapy that feels most supportive will depend on who you are, what you’re going through, and what feels comfortable for you. Two approaches we often use in counselling for anxiety and depression are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps you notice the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and actions. When anxiety or depression takes hold, it’s easy to get stuck in patterns of negative thinking that fuel worry or low mood. In CBT, we’ll gently explore those thought patterns together and practise new ways of thinking that feel more balanced and supportive. Over time, these shifts can help you feel lighter, calmer, and more confident in your day-to-day life.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT focuses less on fighting or eliminating difficult feelings, and more on learning how to live well alongside them. With ACT, we’ll explore mindfulness skills that help you notice thoughts and emotions without being swept away by them. You’ll practise aligning your actions with your values—those deeper parts of life that matter most to you. This approach can help you build resilience, find meaning, and move forward even when challenges arise.

Both CBT and ACT offer practical, evidence-based strategies. But what matters most is how you feel in the process. Our role is to support you with the approaches that best match your needs, at a pace that feels right for you.

What You Can Expect With Us

When you reach out, we’ll start by getting to know you: your story, your challenges, and what you’d like life to feel like. Together, we’ll set gentle goals, and we’ll use approaches like mindfulness, CBT, and self-compassion to support you along the way. Some sessions may feel practical and skills-based; others may simply be about sitting with what’s hard. Both have value, and both are part of healing.
